Traceroute webct from my computer

Traceroute from my computer gives me 17 hops in total which is compared to the results I got from using centralops.net (20hops in total) is less. The number of hops it used before identifying the curtin.edu.au is less and the time is much faster too.

Pinging the webct with A Toolbar:-

Pinging the webct with A Toolbar is much faster than the internet tool central ops.net. It took much less time than what I expected it to be. It took 248ms with internet tools when compared to A Toolbar it only took 64ms. To my understanding why it took less time is because it went from my computer Toolbar to curtin webct straight rather than going throug my ISP provider and all other web routes before identifying the curtin webct. Centralops.net is a common internet tool which every one might use and this is my own Toolbar that is why it took less time.

Internet Tools

I used CentralOps to do the task and I find it very fast in internet communication. I selected tracerouter and typed in curtin.edu.au on the to field within few seconds it brings up a list which shows the Tracing route to curtin.edu.au [134.7.179.53]....

Question : How many ‘hops’ are there?
Answer : 20 Hops
This was an interesting bit of task. I enjoyed doing this as it did not take much of my time to figure out.

Answer : 246ms

The IP Number for curtin.edu.au is 134.7.179.53.

What a simple exercise but I spent hours without knowing that what I downloaded at the first instance was the answer to the task. Anyway I feel proud now that I have successfully found the answer to the question.

Answer: 'CAPITALIZATION MATTERS'

In comparison to the telnet, FTP is pretty easy task. FileZilla is a simple program to download and once downloaded it took only seconds to connect to the host recall.curtin.edu.au. Once in there I clicked on MAC folder and readme.text was one of the sub file. I downloaded and saved as a word document. This task has taught me a lesson to 'trust my own work and believe in my capabilities with computer oriented tasks'.
